Matrubhoomi (2003) A Nation Without Women Movie Story Line

A woman, attended by two midwives and they giving birth in a small village in India. When the baby cry rings then the father bangs on a steel plate for attract to attention of all the villagers for who assemble and eager to hear the good news. But unfortunately when the midwife announces that, the birth child is a daughter then the banging stops and they followed by a stunned silence. This practice continues on that village and as a result, after many years later there are only men and boys everywhere and no women. One day a widowed man, whose name is Ramsharan, ponders his plight and that of his two grown son, who he is unable to get married. There is no marriage has taken in this village for 15 years, save for one, who was annulled as the young 14-year old bride and he turned out to be a 14 year old boy. But fortunately there is hope when his friend informs Ramsharan that he has see a bride for his eldest son, a beautiful young woman whose name is Kalki, and she lives nearby, sheltered with her father. Then Ramsharan pays a substantial dowry for Kalki and gets her married to his eldest son - or so he hopes - for every male in the village, including his younger son, Sooraj, and he himself wants a piece of Kalki - for himself - and are willing to do anything to satiate their non-existent sex-life.
